Another fabulously sunny winters day today. What a difference it makes to have the sun shining.
We took Benny down to the dog beach - now his regular place for a casual doggy "play date". He is funny to watch hanging out with the dogs. Some dogs are playful and that is great for him. Other dogs just ignore him and he passes them by looking out for a dog that is fun.
I like going down there. He can go off lead and I don't worry about him disappearing as the area is fenced off.
What else did I do today? Went to the Farmers Market which is held down on the foreshore. I park in the car park and make my way up a dirt track and this is the view that I see as I continue the walk to the market. It is so lovely.
The market was busy but I did not buy as much as I usually do. Some dried fruit, bread and dog treats. And fresh eggs. Best eggs around from here. Great for baking cakes. The dog treats are a hit with Benny. Dried kangaroo tendons to chew on and dried lamb lung to use as training treats. Mmmmm.
Just as the afternoon was drawing to a close I went out to my very weedy and neglected front yard and pruned the roses. Tomorrow I have to spend some serious time in the garden as it looks dreadful. So that is on my agenda.
I know I have mentioned this stupid game we play at home each Friday night. Well, not a game. More like a stupid thing we do. For an hour or two we speak with a foreign accent. The other week was Italian and last week was Russian. It is very silly and not as easy as it seems because you have to get past the self conscious aspect of it and also try to remember to keep it up for at least an hour.
Last night we decided that instead of an accent we would just be really rude and abusive to each other. This was decided early in the afternoon and I forgot all about it by the time I got home after a body pump class at the gym. My son opened the front door for me and greeted me with "Oh, how boring. It's you" and then he walked off.
I asked him how his day was and he replied "None of your business.". Naturally I was a bit taken aback at his words because he just does not speak like that. Then I went into the kitchen and S followed me and made some other really rude remarks. Then K started on at me about things. It took a good few minutes for me to collect my thoughts and remember that it was "abuse each other" night.
My son really embraced it and read out to me a list of insults that he had found on the Internet and followed me around the house reciting what he thought of me. Words like "maggot" and "vomit" and "low life" featured. After a few minutes I felt like whacking him. It was so irritating. Then he rattled the plates in the cupboard to really annoy me. Answered me back all the time.
You would think the opportunity to be rude and horrible to someone would be funny but after an hour we were glad to stop. There is a limit to how often I can tell my husband and son that they are stupid twats and to shut their dumb mouth.
Next week we thought we may do the opposite and be nauseatingly nice to each other.
I am not sure how this Friday night thing came around. It may have tied in with the "Talk Like A Pirate" day each September. One year at work I did my best to talk like a pirate for the day but it was at work and nobody else wanted to get into it. Besides, it was hard to answer the phone talking like a pirate. People are inclined to think I am a bit strange anyway so I suppose that to add pirate talking to the mix may make them give up on me. I may just dress like a pirate instead.
No big walk tonight. I was going to walk but decided that I just wanted to remain uncommitted for a change. Currently I am working on being a bit more relaxed about my routine. Be more flexible. Or whatever.
That's it for this little post.
