Sunday in June

Yep, Sunday afternoon and here I am having achieved not much today.

That's because I was watching a movie earlier on.  Or at least trying to.

I use Apple TV thingy and now and then like to download a movie.  Usually a rainy day kind of activity. Today it was the Hollywood version of "Girl with a Dragon Tattoo".  The one with Daniel Craig in it.

I have watched the other version and liked it.  Loved the books.  Not everyone's cup of tea but certainly mine.

Anyway, I downloaded the movie and then spent the next two hours and stupid thirty eight minutes having to restart it.  Actually, having to resume it.  It was stall, hang and then I would have to reload.  But we watched it.

K fell asleep.  S didn't.  Although, there were some parts that I wished he were asleep as the scenes were a bit graphic.  The movie is rated R+.  Had you told me years ago that I would let a child of mine watch an R rated movie I would have strongly disagreed.  But I guess you weigh up a whole lot of things when you make that decision about what you do and do not let your child watch.

The film was fine for him.  I thought the main characters were great.  In my opinion it was on par with the original version.

After the movie I decided to bake a batch of cup cakes and had to modify the recipe as I was short on a couple of eggs and had no butter which meant I had to use margarine.  I don't recall buying the margarine and am unsure how it ended up in my fridge because we only use butter.

So, I bake the cup cakes and not only did they stink they also tasted like CRAP.  How can anything taste so disgusting when it has sugar, chocolate and the like in it?  One reason I am sure - margarine.  That stuff is horrible.  In the bin they went and I am going off food shopping soon to stock up on nice food.  Pantry and fridge are very empty.

Last night I went for a long walk with friends to a fabulous Italian restaurant where we had dinner.  We did not get back until about 10pm.  Small gang of middle aged women roaming the streets.  Watch out peoples - we might graffiti fences with lipstick.... We have decided to make this a weekly thing.

Yesterday K and I took Benny down the street for a walk and he was such a twit.  Too much noise, too many other dogs, too many people wanting a pat and just too much happening.  He jerked on the lead so much I swear I felt like hanging him more than once.  But what can you do but work at it.  He is just a pup.

I just don't agree with smacking a dog.  But he had a couple yesterday when he just randomly bit me.  I don't feel too guilty about applying a smack after seeing the trainer smack one of the puppies for being nasty to another pup.  I suppose now and then it happens where positive training means squat.  If a dog bit another dog it would get one back.  Biting my dog back is not an option.

Friday night I went out with S to see Prometheus at the movies.  If you like Alien then you should see this movie.  I loved Alien and thought Sigourney Weaver was fantastic (still do).  Ridley Scott is just such a great director.

Now I am heading off for food shopping.

My life is so predictable.

So I am going to go food shopping in the nude.

Just for a change.

Ciao

  1. Love the ending. Let's just hope you managed to stay out of the pokey!

  2. Marianne: As it was, I went shopping fully clothed. The chill factor forced that decision. Otherwise, you know, I would have gone nekked.

Now, what does that mean? To stay out of the pokey? Here that would mean to stay out of a pokey machine (one arm bandit) or to do the hokey pokey.
