It is this one here. I am not going to put the name of it on the blog because I don't want traffic to it. Someone I know might stumble on my blog and I would not be too pleased about that.
It has everyone all hot under the collar because it has brought erotic writing back into fashion.
Did it ever go out of fashion? I don't think so.
There was also a big deal made of the fact that a middle aged woman wrote it. Because we all know that anyone middle aged is incapable of writing about erotica. Dried up old prunes that we are.
Anyway, I read a bit of it at book club and just want to say it is badly written fan fiction.
I could do better than that.
In fact, one day I just might. I will wait until I am, oh, seventy, and publish a leather bound book on all sorts of rumpy pumpy stories that will shock and awe people.
Seventy is a good age to write about sex.
Any age is a good age to read about it.

Oh no...somebody just gave me a copy and I'm suddenly not interested. Thank you for helping to set expectations!
ReplyDeleteMarianne: Don't let me put you off. The content is juicy but the writing is not the best. But that is only my opinion because I like Anais Nin and similar sorts who write very differently. My friend enjoyed it - so you never know.
ReplyDeletei've read snippets, and it seems like it's about a lovely woman and a mean, cold, punishing man. that never interests me.
ReplyDeletebut there must be something about it...
i'm laughing after i re-read my comment because i have a habit of chasing cold, withdrawn, mean men.
ReplyDeletei guess i just don't like to read about it!
Meliss: Ha ha, well there is nothing like a moment of truth now and then. Last night the girl who was reading it said that she could not put it down while she was eating her breakfast.
ReplyDeleteWhat a way to start the day!
This book is so over-hyped this summer, that I have seen a lot of lists of books to read that don't include Fifty shades of a certain color.....
ReplyDeleteBruce: It is referred to as "Twilight Fan Fiction" and that sums it up.
ReplyDeleteCrap.
