It's Wednesday and that big walk is only two days away.
This time on Friday I will be about half way into the walk. Or maybe at about 45km. I expect to be whinging a bit too.
During the days before the walk I have had to carb up. Although, the reality is that I possibly started doing that around Easter time. Or is that lard up? Anyway, yesterday I met all high carb expectations. Bagel for breakfast. Homemade Greek Easter treats for morning tea. Bagel for lunch. More biscuits. Giant bowl of fruit salad. The finale was the white bread sandwich filled with potato. Mmmmmm.
By the time I went to bed I was about as bloated as I have ever been. The down side. Today I had to back off. I don't know how people eat like that every day. The food is not very energising after half an hour. And I was hungry very quickly.
As you can see, Benny has been coming to work with me still. This photo is from today. He got into the rubbish bin.
I had a rather embarrassing accident at work today. See that white railing around my desk? I have that there to keep Benny from running all over the office. I have to lift my legs quite high to get over it. All day. Get up from chair, lift one leg over and then the other. Back and forth all day long.
Then this afternoon I lifted my leg and did not clear the railing. The toe of my shoe caught at it and I started to tip forward towards the desk. So I naturally went to grab the office chair for stability. Which was all very good but my chair is on wheels. Grab the chair, chair moves and I propel towards desk very rapidly. Somehow, I managed to hit the side of my face on the desk but not as hard as it could have been because I managed to put my right hand on the desk at the same time which stopped me making full impact. I then managed to right myself up without too much collateral damage.
This all happened in front of four people. My boss was really concerned but once we established that I was okay I gave permission to make a joke about it.
For the next couple of hours my lip and cheek on the right side were a bit tender but the worst thing was that during that tumble I managed to wrench my right shoulder (which has given me so much trouble over the past few months and had just started to heal). This would have not been so bad had it not been for the little accident I had at home on Monday.
On my kitchen floor was a tiny bit of hard dog kibble. I would have picked it up were I not such a lazy shit and in a hurry. So what happens when one is a lazy shit? You guessed it. I slipped on that teeny bit of kibble and slipped sideways. I put my right hand out to steady myself on the bookshelf and wrenched that shoulder.
Puppies are a health hazard....
We took Benny to training last night. It is one on one for a few weeks and he is now doing sit, stay and a few other things. The training method is reward based. I am not a fan of choker chains. Anyway, it all went well. He is very relaxed about the dog lead now because he knows that it will take him to special places. In fact, today he was so chuffed that he got to walk with me up to the letterbox and back during work time. Twice he did it. He can go for a twenty minute walk now. His world is getting bigger.
He has been a wee bit naughty this week (as puppies are inclined to be). Tore a hole in my brand new dress on Sunday. Found a jumper of mine and chewed the cuff of it. I mended the dress and can live with a chewed cuff.
The dress I actually bought on Sunday. K and I went to the local shopping centre with the intention of getting a few things for me for the walk. I also went shopping for a pair of jeans. People complain about the process of getting a pair of bathers but to me, jeans are the worst. I hate buying them. It is never straight forward. And I just don't think I look fab in jeans anymore. Not that that reality will stop me wearing them.
These are the options I now have to consider when buying jeans. The rise of the jeans which means the distance of the crotch to waist. Low rise, mid rise and high waist. So I choose mid rise. Then the length. I choose longer ones. Then the colour. Dark, light, wash etc. Now they have jeans with a curve factor. So I get full curve Levi's which is nothing to do with the size of my arse. It is the hip to waist ratio and I have to say ten out of ten to Levi's for bringing this in because I can now get jeans that do not gape at the back. Anyway, after trying on many pairs I came home with one pair which I have worn every day since.
So what now for the rest of the week? Not much. Get ready for the walk. Do some stretching. Pack the back pack. Tick off the things on the list. Last night I had a dream that I decided to not do the walk because my parents were getting divorced and I could not be bothered. Just a dream though. The nightmare is on Friday.
But for now, it is off to bed.
Ciao
